Brick Clay Moisture

Importance of Moisture Control

Traditionally, when manufacturing brick clay, moisture has been controlled and monitored manually, but a MoistTech sensor will allow for a much more accurate reading and, as a result, a brick clay product of a much higher quality. A correct mix consistency is absolutely necessary and much easier to achieve with a sensor. If the exact moisture level is known, the drying time for a mix can be easily calculated, reducing wasted time, resources, and rejected mixes.

Optimize Production: Instant ROI

Enhanced efficiency in the energy-intensive spray drying process, leading to reduced energy expenses, minimized bulk density fluctuations, and consistent production of tiles with the desired moisture content

Improved efficiency in tile pressing, resulting in better tile formation and decreased need for rework or scrap

non-contact

Our equipment never comes into contact with the product, allowing for less waste

zero drift

Our sensors are guaranteed not to drift over time – which saves time and money

closed loop

Create a closed-loop process by tying a moisture sensor into your PLC. Full control over the line!

no recalibrations

We’ve mastered the art of moisture sensors – your unit will never need to be recalibrated for the same product twice!

Trusted Accuracy

Mounted above the line, it sends readings to a computer that can sound an alarm or make automatic adjustments when necessary. The IR-3000 can also measure temperature, chemical composition, coating thickness, and other important variables with high accuracy.

Typical moisture accuracy is about ± 0.05%, with coating accuracy varying from 0.1 to 0.01 micron, depending on the coating type. A typical analog range is 0-10% moisture. The outputs can be adjusted to optimize recording requirements or PLC.

Support

MoistTech’s experts will assess your specific application with lab tests, calibrations and accuracy results to ensure our equipment will peform for you. All of our sensors are pre-calibrated prior to being shipped to create a plug-and-play operation for the end-user.

Understand the Process

The moisture content of the brick mixture is crucial to produce a quality end product with consistent results in every batch. The correct water to aggregate ratio allows for dense compaction of the clay and the brick will release easily from the mold. Too little moisture allows the brick to crumble; too much moisture causes instability.
