Crushed Limestone Moisture
Control Profits and Moisture
Limestone that is extracted from quarries undergoes a series of processes to ensure its quality and suitability for various industries. Firstly, it is crushed, screened, and washed to eliminate any impurities present. This is done either to prepare it for the calcination process in the production of Quicklime or to meet the specific requirements of customers.
Monitoring moisture levels is essential to prevent blockages in the screeners and ensure that the limestone meets the customer’s specifications. By closely monitoring moisture content, necessary corrective measures can be taken to maintain smooth operations and deliver limestone of the desired quality.
Moisture measurements play a vital role in this process as they help identify and eliminate finer wet impurities like clay, sand, and iron-bearing minerals from crushed limestone. Additionally, the IR3000 is utilized to determine the moisture content of the finely crushed limestone that comes out of the secondary crusher and dryer, if used.

- Factory pre-calibration to your specific application; and many other advantages
Installation Success
Various measurement points can be considered:
1. post first crusher
2. above a conveyor prior to the final crusher (0-6% moisture) for impurity removal.
3. Positioned above a conveyor after the final crusher or dryer (0-2% moisture).
The gauge must be placed at a distance of 4-12 inches from the product. The product flow should be uninterrupted and deep enough so that the gauge does not detect the transporting medium. In case the flow is intermittent, a gating option can be utilized to allow measurement only when the product is visible.
